Harry Potter 30-Day Challenge: Day 18

LEAST FAVORITE BOOK

Again, this is one of those things where I have to pick my least favorite M&M (I like all M&Ms, they are all good, but I need to find some nonsense reason to dislike the brown ones or something. This is a terrible comparison.) Anyway, if I had to pick one, I think it would be Chamber of Secrets. I don’t really have any huge reasons for it. I mean, I loved Gilderoy Lockhart, the book is relatively important in the grand scheme of things once it’s revealed what the diary was, and it’s just a good book. I just didn’t enjoy it as much as some of the others, I guess. If I had to pick a reason that I like it least, maybe I’d just blame Ginny Weasley. It’s the first book with lots of her in it, and I just don’t like her that much.

LEAST FAVORITE MOVIE

OK, I know I’ve hated on Half Blood Prince in previous posts, but I’m not sure I can say it’s my least favorite movie. Yes, it’s a bit silly and excludes some important stuff, but I think the tone and execution of what they did include was pretty well done. 

I am not one of those Potter fans who objects to something in every movie and who screams out “They made that up! That wasn’t in the book!” or “Where’s so-and-so?” In fact, I really like the movies. A lot. So making me pick a least favorite doesn’t really mean much, since that “least favorite” is still a movie I like quite a bit.

That said, I guess I’d say my least favorite is Chamber of Secrets. It’s the one I’ve seen the fewest times, yet, no matter how many times I see it (it’s not more than like 10, I promise), I can’t really remember much. Also, it has inferior Dobby. And by inferior, I mean not-as-cute-looking-as-in-DH1. But, yeah. I guess that’s it.

I am only now realizing how much more meaningful Chamber of Secrets is as part of the series upon reading it again. It just moved up a few spots in my book.
